Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:month andend-year process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll andutilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis,
capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed assetactivity, debt activity
2. Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
3. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles, Improve systems andprocedures and initiate corrective actions
4. Coordinate and complete annual audits, establish and maintain fiscal files and records todocument transactions
5. Establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing,
verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing accounting staff.
6. Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training,assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating jobexpectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning andreviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.
7. Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information andrecommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans;
implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolvingproblems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; andimplementing change.
8. Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection,
consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports.
9. Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accountingpolicies and procedures.
10. Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applyingobservations and recommendations to operational issues.
11. Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
12. Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accountingregulations, and recommending new procedures.
13. Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
14. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional
publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
