Job Description
To work with the Service Manager and contribute to the planning, delivering and reviewing of services. To monitor and maintain standards against agreed criteria and objectives and to implement quality assurance systems, which reflect agreed good practice, involve users and their carers, County Council equal opportunities policy and legislative requirements. This will necessitate a joint management approach and collective work strategy involving all Deputy Unit Managers.
To take part in the formal programme of service and establishment inspections.
To report to the Service Manager or Area Manager on those matters which may require a more senior management decision, or might have wider implications for the service or the Authority.
To manage resources effectively, including budgets, buildings and staffing, and the use of resources not provided directly by the County Council, under the Community Care and National Health Service Legislation.
To co-ordinate, attend and, where appropriate, chair service and user meetings as required.
To work in a co-operative manner with other agencies to achieve joint objectives and provide complementary services.
To ensure effective communication to all staff through written information and management meetings, with direct formal supervision and the development of good management approaches. To arrange and, if appropriate, be involved in induction processes and student supervision.
To contribute to developing training strategies which reflect the objectives and targets of the services.
To be responsible for recruitment and selection of employees at the appropriate level in accordance with agreed procedure.
To provide necessary information as required and to ensure recording systems meet county and legislative requirements for finance, fire precautions and other records.
To be responsible for the day-to-day management of all operational services within the designated service area by ensuring the provision of a 24 hour, 7-day service which is capable of responding as required to requests for service out of office hours.
To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.
To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the post.
